4th of July

I spent July 4th at my parent's house in Virginia with my parents, 3 of my sisters and 10 of my nieces and nephews.  I made some festive cupcakes to help us celebrate the holiday!  I just used white cake mix, divided it in half, and colored it.  After the blue and red (ish) cupcakes cooled I cut them in half, squirted the middle with some frosting and stuck a different colored top on!  Worked out perfectly!

My parents don't own a pastry bag and so we decided to try this frosting.  It was awesome!  Worked like a charm and it only took 1 can to do the middle and top of 24 cupcakes!

father's day

For father's day I gave my dad just want every dad wants...a new tie!!!

I was fortunate to actually get to be with my dad on father's day this year (the first time in many years) and it was great to be able to celebrate with him!  He truly is the best dad in the world!!!

I got the idea here.

hamburgers

Etsy Tuesday is on hold until my craft-happiness takes a backseat to the stresses of school!

At church on Sunday, the same lady who did these gave us this as a treat!

She said she wanted to do something American, but the humidity made taffy and impossibility. She's so clever!!! It's 2 Nilla wafers, with a thin mint in the middle and then yellow and red frosting on the thin mint. She attached real sesame seeds with sugar.

It's decided: I'll never miss a Sunday when she's teaching!

pilgrim hats

Someone at church brought these as a yummy snack the Sunday before Thanksgiving. I decided they looked easy enough and made them for my students as a treat before the Thanksgiving break!
step 1: lay fudge stripe cookies on parchment paper

step 2: melt chocolate chips in the micro

step 3: using a fork, dip big marshmallows in melted chocolate and just plop down on cookies.

step 4: you could do this a number of ways. I didn't want to get my hand dirty while dipping the marshmallows, so I used a ziploc bag as a piping bag and gave each marshmallow a dollop of chocolate on top.

step 5: pipe a buckle. the lady at church used yellow, which I couldn't find. I used orange on a few and then b-hick told me it look funny (i agreed) and so I left the rest un-piped!

step 6: marvel at their beauty
step 7: enjoy!
