Etsy Tuesday...on a Wednesday!

I bought this little magnet the other day on Etsy.  It's my motto for life.

The seller has a whole "keep calm" collection.  There are only a few sayings but she has them in lots of colors.  My fave (besides the one above) is...

unfortunately, this is another of my mottos!

Weren't you just telling me the other day that you don't have enough origami praying mantises in your home? You can add to your origami insect collection for only $1200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean, it is pretty stinkin' amazing that someone folded that...but still.

I'm in a bad mood. And I'm tired. I'm in Utah visiting my family and also babysitting 2 of my nephews for the week. One of them threw up today. As we were walking into the house. Unluckily, I am playing 'mom' and had to clean it up. Mom-hood sometimes stinks (hehe, that's punny!) Anyway.

On Etsy's main page today they have a lot of cute stuff commemorating Bastille Day (which is tomorrow). Cute stuff like cool Frenchy charms. But, considering my mood, I steered clear of the 'cute' and instead focused my attention on these bad boys.

Seriously? How do you expect people to react when you show up someplace with these on? "Oh, neat shoes, where'd you get 'em?" "I made them." "Really? I never would've guessed." I mean, does someone actually put these on in the morning and think "these are so well crocheted no one will ever guess my Aunt Hilda made them herself!"

People are weird. But, at least laughing at these shoes has cured me of my bad mood!!!

To make up for not posting last week, I have 3 items for you today!

Anyone who knows me well, knows I love coke! So, earrings to match my obsession are quite appropriate!

I found myself in the midst of a pin selection with some pretty funny little sayings on them.

Did you know that there's a geekery section on etsy? Well, here's what I found.

Uh, I really like this. There's nothing like a little double helix to remind you who you are!
After spending the last week with my super darling and extrememly sweet 5-year-old nephew, who just happens to be obsessed with star wars, this grabbed my attention!

I'm sorry I've been so bad about including links with my etsy posts. I vow to be better! The pictures, from now on, will be links!!!

Also, my birthday was last Wednesday!!! And B gave me a ......SEWING MACHINE!!!! It's about time I laid my hands on one of these bad boys!! Just you wait, I already have a mountain of ideas!!!

I think this is darling! It seems like it'd be pretty easy to make. Hmm, I only have 4 nieces. This would be a much more manageable Christmas gift than what I did last year. We'll see!

When we were in London last Spring (09) we went to Camden Market to shop around and I bought a lovely sterling silver ring. Unfortunately, when we moved from our apartment to our house, I lost it :( I'm blaming Spike. I seriously think he ate it. Anyways. I have been on the lookout for an equally as cool ring ever since. I found this one on Etsy a few months ago and have been lusting after it ever since! It's $24 though. Doesn't that seem a little much for a ring? I bought one similar at Kohl's. My new one will have to assuage my desires for the cooler, handmade, Etsy one for a while. C'est la vie!

My dad isn't really a cuff links wearin' kind of guy. But, if he was I'd get him these!

My pops is an avid cyclist...and what better way to show your love of a sport than to wear cuff links depicting it?

My hair is maybe 2.5" long. So, I am always in the market for something to chnage my look up a bit! This seller has some pretty cool stuff including these filigree clips.

I also found these bobby pins!
I wear/buy a lot of headbands...this one looks like one I may have to add to my collection!

Recently, sister6 emailed me and asked me for some ideas for onesies. She was headed to a baby shower and needed something super cute to give the new mom. Upon reading her email my exact thoughts were "why is she asking me and noy sister1? why didn't she check etsy?". Sister1, as I'm sure you know by now, is super craft happy and is superb at all she tries. When I was at her house this past weekend I was blown away by some of the appliques shirts she's made for her kids (including a cherry blossom branch and robots). Until I get a sewing machine (hint, hint b-hick...only 22 days until my birthday :) I must live vicariously through the applique of my sisters and those whom I stalk on etsy. I particularly liked this woman's shop. My only concern with these onesies is that she didn't sew right on the edge so after said clothes are washed, the edges might curl.

this seller also had some cute stuff...and not just onesies, blankets and the like.

Can you tell, I'm a little obsessed with applique! What does this make, my fourth applique post?!?!

B Hick has been telling me that he really likes shirts with french cuffs. He had one when we were dating. I hated it. Not for the cuffs though. It was textured, off-white and kinda see-through. Not the best combo. But now that I've found these totally awesome cufflinks, perhaps a trip to the shirt store is in our future. I think these are pretty stinkin' cool.

I just love it!

I think is hilarious! and fun. and I would wear it in a heartbeat!

I think I'm getting the urge to make some more necklaces! Stay tuned!

etsy tuesday

I have not given up my own crafting obsession. I'm just seeking inspiration. I would love to do more applique, alas, I have no sewing machine. I would love to make some cards. But really, every time someone has a birthday I make them this card, cause I think it's the cutest one I've ever created. But let's get down to the real root of the matter. I'm feeling lazy. School will be over in a few long weeks and then, hopefully, I will starting being more crafty (I am planning on decorating/painting my house this summer though, that sounds like one giant craft project to me!)

So, today I am instituting Etsy Tuesday. I often peruse the lovely wares just to kill time and bask in the creativity of those I do not know. Today I came across this.

Now, I don't think I would buy this. I don't think I'd make it either. But do you see what I see? Do you know how I feel about the letter B? Well, not so much the letter B as the person B. Well, I love him! A lot! and this necklace reminds me of a story. So, bare with me. When we had been dating for a year or two I went into Claire's and saw a necklace. It said on it 'I love Brad.' It was probably intended for Brad Pitt fans, but I saw it and knew it was meant for me. For a long time I wore that necklace and when I was done wearing it I put it in my lovely jewelry box. Oh how I miss that jewelry box. Last April, when our apartment was burglarized the thieves stole my jewelry box. And though I had nothing too precious, financially speaking, in said box, I had a few items, like that cheap little 'I love Brad' necklace (and a magnificent trilobite necklace that my very own B had made for me - the true mark of a geologist's wife) that I consider to be priceless. Silly, right? I was attached to a tacky little necklace! I wouldn't wear the old necklace if I had it, but seeing this one today on Etsy, reminded me of the one I lost.

And so I guess etsy is good for one more thing...therapy!
